Tracing the Line is a movable archive that is inspired and referenced from istorical accounts of Little India, including labour, trade and migration. Using archival mages from different sources, this work resembles a cart, representing transport.
This work is done in collaboration with Susan Sentler.
Melancholia, loss, and mourning are deemed touchy topics that people tend to avoid whenever possible, but this isn’t the case for Moses Tan (b. 1986). His artistic research and works in the form of drawings, videos and installations create different experiences for different audiences, and allow for them to indulge in aesthetics of loss.
Moses is a double-degree holder, one of which is a degree in Fine Arts, for which he received first-class honors awarded by LASALLE College of the Arts; and the other being a degree in Chemistry and Biological Chemistry from Nanyang Technological University. He has received various awards such as the Noise Singapore Award in 2014, exhibited his works in Singapore, Istanbul and Hong Kong, and was a resident artist at Santa Fe Art Institute.
