“Rituranga” A Garland of Seasons (An Interactive Odissi Workshop)
Immerse yourself in the timeless classical dance of Odissi as Soumee re- presents the passage of time through four prominent Indian seasons introduced by Nobel laureate, Rabindranath Tagore. Using songs and dance to depict these seasons and their impact on the human mind, Soumee seeks to use the gestures of Odissi to represent a myriad of meanings.
Soumee De Girotra
Soumee De is an Odissi dancer and co founder of ETHOS: exploring an Odissi Spirit, a community of Indian Classical dancers that aim to inspire, propagate, develop and influence the spread of Odissi form and related arts & music disciplines across geographies, cultures and generations. Soumee has more than 30 years of classical dance experiences (in Kathak and Odissi) and currently teaches at Shantha Ratii SRI Academy and Temple of Fine Arts, Singapore. She trains in Odissi under Guru Ratikant Mohapatra from Srjan, Bhubaneswar, India. Soumee and her students have performed at Artwalk Little India festival in 2019.
